Brasília – President Dilma Rousseff summoned her cabinet this morning for two emergency meetings on the line to be taken  on accusations regarding U.S. spying on Dilma and her direct advisors, in a report aired by TV Globo’s Fantástico,

The first meeting began at 1o:00 a.m. and was attendedby the justice minister José Eduardo Cardozo, the Office of Institutional Security, general José Elito, and the General-Secretary, Gilberto Carvalho.

The second, immediately after the first included Cardozo of Justice, the minister of of Communication, Paulo Bernardo da Defesa, Defense Minister Celso Amorim, and Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado of Foreign Relations

The press office of the Presidency says the meetings have broken up. None of the ministers spoke [to the press]. Since the publication began to circular  in June, the ministers of communication and justice have expressed concern over the accusations, which if provedwould  constitute acts against the liberty of citizens and national sovereignty.

Today, U.S. ambassador Thomas Shannon visited the foreign ministry at Itamaraty to explain the topic with minister Figueiredo Machado. After the meeting, he left without speaking to the press. Figueiredo Machado departed for the meeting with Dilma and other cabinet ministers.
